When was the first time you took control?

When was the first time you really took control of your life?  The moment you made a play in the game of life and took the turn in the road that expanded your horizon?  Those are defining moments.  They have led you to where you are now.  Think back as far as you can to the first time.

From that moment of liberation, you said to the world, “I can do it.”  By taking control and courageously making your own decision, you expand what’s within you and around you.   Congratulations!  Continue to ask yourself, “How can I do that today?

I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence, but it comes from within. It was there all the time.

Inanimate Cooperation

The level of energy that we approach anything with, changes our experience with it.  My mini-case study in point…

I was organizing through a lot of paperwork this week.  It included flipping through many pages of paper and removing many, many staples.  I did this on 3 different days.  The first day I approached it I quickly flipped through the pages and I attacked those staples with the intent, “You’re coming out one way or another!”  My hands were dry, splotchy, and fingertips were slightly sore by the end.

The second day I began and soon realized the competitive and combative energy I was approaching this with.  I decided a different approach.  I became one with the staples, knowing we are connected through energy.  My mantra shifted to cooperation and I said to the staples, “Ease and effortlessness.”  Simply that and the experience changed on the 2nd and 3rd day.  My hands were not agitated and the staple removal was with ease.  The other kicker, I got through it just as quickly even though I wasn’t approaching it as a race.  Hmmm…

How can you do conduct your own experiment?

Please share your findings here so I may submit them to the Inanimate Cooperation Scientific Journal 😉

Limit Those Limitations Today

I had this quote from Buddha shared with me this week – The mind that perceives the limitation is the limitation.  We may not be able to throw out our mind, but the good news is we can choose what we fill it with and how we use it!

I heard a great story on Ellen this week about a female LSU soccer player named Mo Isom.  She is living in a world of possibilities, believing in herself, and striving for that which is outside “the norm”.  Way to go Mo!  The goal she is working towards… to literally be kicking goals for the  #1 college football team, LSU, as their first female kicker.  Mo shares that her life has had challenges during these college years from her father’s suicide to a dangerous car wreck that left her very beat up.  Through life’s happenings, she sees her abilities at limitless.  See her clip with Ellen by Clicking Here.

Also, I must give a shout out to Ellen!!!  She highlights, showcases, and embraces the expansiveness of life.  Thank you Ellen:)

Another sweet example in my life of limitlessness is my new niece Nora Bella.  I realize we don’t try to tell a baby what it can or cannot do.  We just love it and say “What might you be one day?  Oooh the possibilities…”  I think Nora Bella may be an Elvis impersonator, or maybe not.  She is adorable!  That I know for sure.

I know the possibilities are far and beyond my mind for this sweet bundle of greatness and I will love her everyday.  Now, what if you looked at each of your days in that way?  Loving yourself and knowing there continues to be unlimited ways that your path may unfold.  Is your mind seeing those paths in a limited view or an expansive one?  Begin by seeing those around you with this love and unlimited potential.  What is that experience like?  That is exactly what to do with yourself!

Here’s to your unlimited potential!!!

Inspired Action

I watched, for a second time, the movie The Secret.  The core message of the movie is about the law of attraction.  It’s always helpful to be reminded that like energy attracts like energy.  The thoughts and core beliefs that we buy into physically manifest into our lives.  It isn’t necessarily spontaneous and we may not realize it – that energy is constantly flowing.

I love the way Deepak Chopra explains in his book The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success that a seed has the  hidden energy, or pure potential, to sprout several trees.  We also have many hidden energies that manifest all around us.  The law of attraction tells us, there are so many possibilities and opportunities in life, choose what you want.  That should be easy, right?  Remember, it’s our core beliefs and thoughts that are  attracting like energy.  What are your core thoughts and beliefs?  Are they all roses and rainbows?  We’ve all heard it said, “fake it til you make it.”  I say be inspired by the vision you have for life – your hopes, your dreams, your happiness.  Allow that vision to be your focus and be inspired to action!  When you focus on that vision of hope and happiness, then you will tap into those possibilities.  Pay attention to your intuition and creative thoughts.

Allow your excitement and heart to guide you in your inspired actions.

The Breath of Life

There are so many ways to address your well-being.  Exposure to new ways and opportunities to focus on self is great so you can determine the best fit for you.  There is no one-size-fits all.  So, try on different things, learn about multiple disciplines, and discover what you enjoy.  It is in that spirit, I highlight breathwork today!

I have had the privilege of working with a local practitioner of transformational breathwork.  In my sessions with Lynn Ruth, I experienced great calm, peace, and an awareness of my energy that I had not experienced before.  I literally felt my body pulsating.  I was aware of the energy rippling from me!  After each session, worries were washed away and I felt so thankful for the glories I did have in life.  Breathwork is a healing experience, an opportunity to focus on that essential mechanism of our body and allow it to do its natural work.  Our cells require oxygen to move, reproduce, and function.  That movement helps rid the body of toxins.  There is a lot of talk about the benefits of breathing fully for optimal health and stress-reduction.  Would you like to take a day to focus on those benefits for you?  Discover immediate results?  And connect to being well in mind ~ body ~ and spirit?

That time is here!  Lynn Ruth’s mentor and teacher,  Christian de la Huerta, is coming to Indianapolis to conduct a powerful workshop called Breathing Into Purpose.  Christian is an award-winning author, lecturer, group facilitator, and Master Breathworker. In this workshop you will have the opportunity to explore your life purpose by going within and evaluating your life, actions, relationships, and activities. It can serve as a time to define, review, and clarify intentions.

If this sounds like something for you to “try on“, please join Christian on March 24th.  You can read his flyer by clicking here.

Share with us your experience with breathwork!  Post your thoughts and questions today:)

Sun Roof Fun

It’s such a fun and inspiring Friday!  So, I’m here to share my excitement and silliness.  And hope you will share yours too:)

I allowed myself to sleep in just a wee little bit this morn.  I don’t get to sleep in over the weekend so today was my day to allow that.  I love sleep!   I had an easy, breezy go to the morning.  Taking all things in stride and preparing for my wonderful mid-morning appointment, I enjoyed a warm cup of coffee and put on fun, funky, and comfortable clothes for my Friday-funday.  There is something very freeing when allowing myself to be expressed through my clothing and accessories.  My creative juices were flowing~~~~~

I eventually got out of the house and no coat in tow as I was  ready for the temps to rise and the sun to shine.  I used car/drive time to pray and reflect, as well as do some breathing exercises.  In one singular appointment, I had great conversation… was reminded of being open and diverse… collaborated in the spirit of shared values/vision… conducted a nutritional consultation… and more!  And we could’ve kept conversing on and on and on.  That’s when you know you’re in, as they say, “good company”.  Who is they anyway?

After all that greatness, I got into my warm car with the sunshine in full effect.  The sunroof came open right away.  Whoooo-ey!  I basked in the joy of my drive home and literally let my inner joy out in the form of a small squeal.  That was followed by two more squeals each a little louder.  Next time, I’m going to make sure I’m pulled up next to a car with their windows down so they can think I’m a crazy person.  Well, that’s what I told myself.  We shall see.

I’m not letting go of the energy that’s carrying this sun roof fun day right along.  More great connections happening, this blog is being completed, and I’m going back out into the sunshine very soon!  Enjoy your Friday and make it fun.  Whatever that is for you!  Do tell!

The “And Equation”

Not ‘versus’, but ‘and’.  Huh?… What is Jenn talking about?!  As I was just processing my thoughts and preparing to write  this entry that is what came to me, “It’s not ‘versus’, but ‘and’.”  Hold on and let me explain.

I started pitting Intentions and Flexibility against each other this week.  Unbeknownst to me initially and now I see that sneaky play in the game.  Give me the ball back – it’s my turn!

My play is practicing Intentions and Flexibility.

Does some of this seem familiar to you?

  • Work vs. Family
  • Fitness vs. Time
  • Fun vs. Household project
  • Responsibility vs. Relaxation

When we do this to ourselves, life is an ongoing competition and we are continually “losing” at something.  The reality is these all exist.  Life is about work AND family AND time AND so on.  When I realized I had created a power match between Intention vs. Flexibility, I reminded myself of the And Equation.

Intention is about aligning life with my values, passions, and purpose.  It’s creating goals personally and professionally from that and envisioning how that looks and feels.  It’s also about gaining focus and clarity on the steps along the way.  Flexibility is about being open to all possibilities and opportunities.  It’s realizing that things do not always work the way I plan in my mind and accepting things that seem uncertain.  I never know fully where a path is going to take me.  The more open I am, the more value I will gain.

So, back to practicing Intentions and Flexibility together.  We’re huddled to sketch out the game plan…  1.) Vision map posted and open to change,  2.) Schedule outlined and open to change,  3.) Weekly mantra posted and ready for more,  4.) Conscious of my energy and prepared for fluctuations,  5.)  Daily reflection of what emerges (expected and unexpected), 6.) Prayer and meditation and new support systems welcome.

I would love to know how you create Intention and Flexibility in your life!  Please do share.  It’s helpful to hear from others and to grow from your insight.  Pretty please share!

How do you practice Intention and Flexibility?

Jenn Seffrin
